Overview

Pick an app, run a short scan, then use the app as you normally would. PacketLens notes every server that app tries to reach and turns the result into a plain-English report: which companies it contacted, what each of them does, and whether they are known for advertising, analytics or profiling. The scan runs entirely on the phone. There is no account and no server, and the app does not hold Android's internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere.

Why It's Different

No internet permission

PacketLens is not merely promising not to phone home. Android will not let it: the permission that would allow it is not in the app.

Written in plain English

Every company gets a sentence explaining what it actually does, and where it is based. Not a list of domain names to decipher.

Honest about blind spots

When an app hides its lookups behind its own encrypted DNS, the report says the scan may be incomplete rather than reporting a clean result.

Nothing to sign up for

No account, no email, no sign-in. Reports live on the phone and can be deleted at any time.

Key Features

A verdict you can read at a glance

Every scan ends with a plain rating, from clean through to heavy tracking, and a one-line summary of what was found.

Companies grouped by purpose

Advertising, profiling, analytics, social, crash reporting, the app's own servers and general infrastructure, each in its own group.

Down to the exact server

Open any company to see its headquarters country, how many times it was contacted, and every address the app reached.

Watch a scan as it runs

Live view of connections and companies as they appear, with the time remaining.

Scan history

Keep reports and compare the same app over time, or one app against another.

Share card

Produce a summary card from any report to show someone what an app was doing.

CSV export (Premium)

Take the full company and address list out of the app for your own analysis.

Dark mode throughout

Every screen, not just the main ones.

No root required

Works on a standard Android device, with no special access.

How It Works

  1. Step 01

    Choose an app

Pick any app installed on the phone.

  2. Step 02

    Pick a scan length

Two or five minutes, or ten minutes with Premium.

  3. Step 03

    Use the app normally

Open it and browse as usual. The more of it you use, the more complete the report.

  4. Step 04

    Come back when you're done

The scan also stops on its own when the time runs out.

  5. Step 05

    Read the report

Verdict, companies grouped by what they do, and the exact servers behind each one.

The build

What's Under the Hood

Local VPNAndroid's VpnService, running on the device. Without root it is the only way one app can observe which servers another app reaches
No internet permissionINTERNET is stripped at manifest merge, so the app cannot send anything even if it tried
Scan scopeone chosen app, for the duration of the scan only, with ten minutes the hard ceiling
No forwardingconnections are answered or refused on the phone, never relayed to the internet or a remote VPN
Report storagewritten to the app's private storage, excluded from cloud backup and device transfer

What It Does Not Do

It does not block anything

PacketLens reports what an app contacts. To keep an app offline permanently, that is PacketLock's job.

It does not read your traffic

The report records which servers were contacted and how often, never the contents of a connection.

It cannot see what you did not open

A scan captures what the app does while you use it. Features you did not open may not appear.
